Brian has been a member of Alec G Henley & Associates Ltd. since the summer of 1979. Brian completed a Bachelor of Commerce from Memorial University of Newfoundland. In addition, he has four professional designations namely, Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (CH.F.C.) and Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA).

Brian has brought his leadership skills to our Firm; he is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of financial advisory and employee benefit consulting services. He is a recognized leader locally, nationally, and internationally in various areas. Brian is considered a very strategic thinker and problem solver. His creativity has helped many, many of our clients over the years. Brian’s leadership has helped us put together a strong team that is firmly committed to working in our clients’ ‘best interest’ at all times and as a team.

Brian has been very actively involved in industry organizations – locally, nationally, and internationally. He is Past Chair of the Conference of Advanced Life Underwriters. He is a former National Director of The Financial Advisors Association of Canada (TFAAC); and he has served on the Board at the local Advocis Chapter Level in executive and director positions.

Brian has followed in his father’s footsteps in being a very active member of our community. He has served on numerous non-profit organizations, sporting organizations and charitable organizations. He is the Past President of the Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee; the Past President of the Personal Credit Counselling Service; and he is a Past Director of the St. John’s Board of Trade. Brian is the Chair of the Flight 491 Legacy Fund; and he is the Founding Chair of the Basilica Heritage Foundation Inc..

Brian Henley was also appointed to the Bank of Canada on March 1, 2008 and serviced on the Board until December 31, 2014. He served on numerous committees; namely, the Executive Committee, the Corporate Governance Committee, Member of the Capital Projects Committee (including time as Chair), and the Pension Benefits Committee.
