Alec G. Henley Group has always been a big proponent of professional development and continuing education. All team members are highly skilled with multiple professional designations and/or working towards gaining industry recognized designations. Our firm is actively involved in industry associations and conferences — locally, nationally, and internationally — for the benefit of our clients.

CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP):

Certified Financial Planner (CFP) is one of the top designations that a financial planner can earn. It is an internationally recognized designation pursued by individuals in legal, tax, and investment professions.

A CFP is qualified to advise clients regarding their investments, taxes, estates, insurance and retirement planning.

To obtain CFP certification, applicants must successfully complete the required prerequisite courses and a rigorous exam process.

To maintain certification, CFP professionals must keep their knowledge and skills current by completing Continuing Education courses every year. They must also adhere to FP Canada Standards Council’s Standards of Professional Responsibility, including a Code of Ethics which mandates that CFP professionals must always place their client’s interests first.

Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU)

The Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) is an internationally recognized designation pursued by individuals for in-depth knowledge of Estate Planning and Financial Advice to Individuals and Corporations.

Candidates interested in obtaining the CLU certification must complete a course curriculum that includes subjects such as insurance planning, life insurance law, individual life insurance, fundamentals of estate planning and planning for business owners. Governed by the Institute of Advanced Financial Education, any Institute designation holders must adhere to a strict code of professional conduct. The principles outlined in the code include: priority of client’s interest, integrity, competence, diligence, disclosure, professionalism, confidentiality and respect for the law.

Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS)

The Certified Employee Benefits Specialist is an Internationally recognized, and most respected designation in the benefits industry. In order to maintain compliance and hold an active CEBS designation, continuing education (30 hours/two years) is required.

The CEBS designation is a credential that is recognized for the depth and relevance of critical knowledge achieved. It draws from the GBA and RPA curriculum to build a total benefits perspective and is achieved by successfully completing all required courses.

Retirement Plans Associate (RPA): For those who work with defined contribution and defined benefit plans or are involved with the management of plan assets.

Group Benefits Associate (GBA): For those working with health and other group benefits. The courses reflect the up-to-date and relevant information—including updates on health care reform—needed to effectively design, administer and communicate group benefits.

Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA)

The FEA™ designation reinforces standing and expertise in this growing sector of the business world. A qualified FEA will help bring family focused and thoughtful solutions to the family table. The FEA Program represents the culmination of years of research and curriculum design and is a proven means for professionals to establish themselves as the most trusted advisor to their family enterprise clients.

Chartered Financial Consultant (CH.F.C)

The Chartered Financial Consultant (CH.F.C) designation is a financial planning designation that specializes in wealth accumulation and retirement planning. A CH.F.C. designation holder is an expert in retirement planning and capital accumulation strategies.

CHS – Certified Health Insurance Specialist

The Certified Health Insurance Specialist (CHS) designation was established in 2011 by The Institute for Advanced Financial Education (The Institute™) to raise the bar on professional standards and practice methods of financial advisors in the health insurance sector, and to provide designation holders with expertise in this specialized field.

The CHS is the only health insurance-focused designation in Canada, which strategically positions financial advisors to meet the growing market demand for informed living benefits advice. The CHS designation is conferred exclusively by The Institute, the leading designation body in Canada for financial services practitioners in the specialty areas of Advanced Estate, Wealth Transfer, and Living Benefits. CHS designation holders put clients’ interests first and ensure clients’ financial needs and objectives are fulfilled through the financial planning process.
